Insurance

We do recommend that your horse is insured for a number of reasons:
- 3rd party insurance in case your horse (through no fault of your own) causes an injury to a member of the public, even if accidental. You would be liable for any costs of treatments or injury claims by a 3rd party.
- Loss of use: If your horse/pony is involved in competing etc, and has any unfortunate accident, then loss of use insurance could be payable to you for any losses through injury to your horse.
- Veterinary fee’s: A lot of the time routine veterinary fee’s for the odd small problem do no amount to a great deal. However, if your horse needs referral for orthopaedic surgery or for colic investigation and surgery to a referral centre or vet college then bills can mount up very quickly. Typical referral costs for colic surgery can amount to £3000 – £5000
Insurance for your horse is advisable. Any insurance agreement contract is between the policyholder and the insurance company. We at Old Stone Vets will endeavour to fill out claim forms as quickly as possible upon payment of treatment costs, in order to facilitate speedy re-imbursement of you the policyholder.
